01:17 am - Art Show - Kokkinos - November 13-November 30

I'm going to be showing some of my artwork at Kokkinos in NDG at 5673 Sherbrooke West, Montreal from November 13 through the 30th. I hope that you'll be able to come by and check it out.
I'll be there this Friday, Nov 13, from 8pm to 10pm, if you'd like to come by while I'm around.
Alternatively our house is only a 5 minute walk away, so if you are planning on coming by some other time, let me know, and if I'm free I'll wander by with you.

11:07 pm - New Image: Embraced Well, one of these days I'll do a real update - but for now, I'm going to post a new image.
This one's a bit more complex than my usual image. The background consists of a night-time sky picture from northern saskatchewan, an image of a bonfire, a small leafy plant, and a brightly coloured multi-hued leaf. and of course the foreground is the ever-lovely hipsunderhands
Comments are very welcome!

10:31 pm - Two new images - completing the triptych Hey all,
I've finally completed the last two images of the triptych I've been working on for a while...
Here they are. I'm definitely interested in comments, or suggestions for the title of the complete image. I'm going to include the two images here separately, and then the entire set of images behind a cut to protect the width of your LJ page.

11:26 am - Untitled #32 I'm going to see if I can keep up a somewhat higher pace of completing images. This is one that I started pretty recently, only a couple of weeks ago, but I quite like it. It's a lot lighter in tone than most of my work.
This is the first piece I've done with no human bits floating around in it somewhere. The background is fairly complex - a cloudy sky with some trees, Japanese wisteria flowers, some amethyst crystals and some other crystals. The foreground is far more minimal than usual - just 2 orchids. I have at least one other relatively similar image in progress - so I might try to make this into part of a triptych.
As always, suggestions for names and comments are very welcome!

09:28 pm - Untitled #29 Finally managed to finish another image that's been sitting around on the verge for a while now.
Still no title yet, so suggestions for titles and other comments are very welcome.

10:49 pm - Invasion Day Managed to finish another of the projects I've been working on for a while. This image incorporates two images of moss, ice crystals from a window in winter, a skyline near Sherbrooke, QC, a strange red flower I found at the botanical gardens, and a friend's eyes.
I'm thinking about the title 'Invasion Day'. I'm also curious how it looks for people - on my colour corrected monitor it looks fantastic, but on my laptop the colours look a bit subdued... I'm curious to see what it'll be like printed.
Comments welcome!

04:17 pm - Untitled #31 I've been struggling a bit to find time to work on my art lately - I've had 3 images sitting nearly finished for quite a while now. I finally managed to complete one and upload it.
I have not sorted out a name for this one yet, so any name suggestions are welcome. I'm also interested in any comments anyone has...

10:59 pm - Image #17 of the year Well - I'm kinda getting down the wire now. This image has been mostly finished for quite a while - but I polished it up on the metro this morning.
I have one more partially complete image that I *might* be able to finish before the end of the year - we'll see how it goes...
The background of this image includes some crystals, tree bark, and a picture of a tulip just before it opened. The foreground includes Blue and Kaia, and the same tulip a few weeks later.
As usual, I'm open to suggestions about names...

12:28 am - Help name my show! so my solo show is opening at Come As You Are in Toronto at the end of Nov - and apparently they usually have a name for the show...
I'm currently thinking either just the name of my website - "Synergistic Images", or since the images I'm showing make a rainbow of color - I was thinking maybe "Synergistic Rainbow".
Any other suggestions?
The images I'm showing can be seen at http://www.synergisticimages.ca/media/CAYA%20Show/index.html

09:25 pm - Moving Hell.. What a day...
Movers were supposed to show up at 8am this morning - we booked them over 2 months ago. We're supposed to give possession of our house to the new owners tomorrow. Here's a rough timeline:
- 9am: we call them - we're told that they just left and will be there within an hour.
- 10am: still no movers - another call, and we're told noon at the latest
- 11:30am: another moving company, apparently sub-contracted by the one we hired calls us and tells us they are too busy, and asks us if they can come by tomorrow.
- 12am-2pm: our mover isn't answering the phone.
- 2pm: we finally get ahold of the mover, and he says that one of his teams is just finishing a job and will come by soon.
- 3pm: we call him for an update, and he tells us that we won't be getting a mover until tomorrow morning.
Fuckers.
I'd highly recommend you don't deal with Premiere Van Lines. They are offering us a $25/hour discount from their normal $250/hr rate (for 3 guys and a truck) - but really, losing our reservation just isn't cool.
We're damn lucky that the people who bought our place are very nice, and don't have their movers booked until Friday, so they don't mind us not being out of here until tomorrow some time.
I just hope these guys actually do show up tomorrow.
The good news is that we met our neighbours on the the north side, and they seem very nice - they have a daughter about a year and a half older than Kaia.
And the deck at our new place totally rocks. We had dinner out there tonight, and it was really nice. It's been an exhausting couple of days, but it will definitely be worth it once we get settled...

01:36 pm - Vacation! Blue, Kaia and I have been visiting my parents at Emma Lake, Saskatchewan for almost a week now...
It's been a fantastic time - aside from the first couple of days the weather has been great - sunny and highs around 20C - so we've been spending a lot of time outside. I've taken Kaia for several longish walks, and gone for several Kayak rides --- sans Kaia, unfortunately, since we couldn't find a life-jacket small enough for her.
We also went up to Waskesui in Prince Albert National Park for a day, which was really nice.
Anyways, it's a nice day again, so I'm going to head outside!

11:39 pm - Another art show! Woot! A cute little resto on the plateau (L'Inconnu) is going to be showing some of my art work starting as soon as I can get the pieces they want framed (probably a few weeks), for a total of 3 months!
It looks like a nice place - and the couple running it are very nice - and have a daughter almost exactly the same age as Kaia.
I'm assuming there'll be some kind of a vernisage, and I'll post here when I know more.
It's a small place, so they are only going to be showing 7 pieces. Here are some of the ones they've chosen:
